Our Favorite Valentine’s Day Ads

Valentine’s Day is here!  To celebrate, we’re showcasing some of our favorite advertisements inspired by the day of love.

Carphone Warehouse with CHI & Partners

Valentine's Day ad for Carphone Warehouse

Source: Ads of the World

Clever and even a little useful, this 2014 “bouquet” from Carphone Warehouse spreads brand awareness by making a memory out of something customers are going to pick up anyway: a newspaper.  The “why spend more?” idea is clear—though you may want a backup bouquet just in case if this is the only gift you have planned for your Valentine.

HelpAge India with Meridian Communications

Sometimes we need to be reminded that Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romantic love: it’s about all forms of love.  HelpAge India, a nonprofit charity helping the disadvantaged elderly of India, does just that with this bittersweet outdoor ad from 2009 that reminds us that there are thousands of senior citizens who need care, too.

Flower Council of Holland with 180 Kingsday

Valentine's Day ad by Flower Council of Holland

This 2014 ad by the Flower Council of Holland invites you to imagine a little whimsy alongside everyday life.  The juxtaposition of the typically utilitarian “in case of emergency” case against a lovely flower and a sweet message catches the eye and makes you smile—and perhaps leads you to imagine who you’d break the cellophane “glass” for.

Yemeksepeti with TBWA

Yeah, they went there.  Yemeksepeti, a food delivery service in Turkey, shows just how sexy a night in can be in this 2009 print ad.  After all, why bother going out to eat when you can have a Valentine’s date like this right at home?

Evans Hunt

In 2016, Evans Hunt—an advertising agency based in Calgary, Alberta—set our hearts all aflutter.  With both print ads and handmade cartons sent to clients, the agency turned traditional candy hearts into advertising-themed flirtations.  And now we’re in love.
